Louisville Male Band Program
Male finished 27th at BOA Grand Nationals
Congratulations to the Louisville Male Band that finished 27th at the BOA Grand Nationals in Indianapolis, IN. There were 92 Marching bands from across the country that traveled to Indianapolis, IN in hopes of being the BOA Grand National Champion. There were 47 Bands that competed last Thursday and 45 bands that competed last Friday. Then 33 bands advanced to the Semifinals on Saturday Morning and finally the top 12 advanced to the Championship Round on Saturday Evening. The Male band gave 2 of their finest performances of the season in Indianapolis, IN. The band needs to hold their head high and know they gave their VERY BEST show of the season. The Grand National Championship Band was Avon High School (Avon, IN) 2nd Place was L.D. Bell (Defending 2007 Grand National Champion of Hurst, TX) and 3rd Place was Lawrence Central HS (Indianapolis, IN). Thanks to the entire LMHS Band Staff for their many hours of Hard Work towards achieving this goal. The 2008-2009 Louisville Male Marching Band has been very busy this fall. The band has over 140 members this year. This fall they have competed at Madison Central (Richmond, KY), BOA Sound Check, Avon HS (Avon, IN), Greenwood HS (Greenwood, IN) Madison HS (Madison, IN) and their final performance will be at the BOA Grand Nationals Championship. . Male Marching Band Planning Reunion The Louisville Male Marching Band in conjunction with the Male High School Alumni Association are planning a BAND REUNION for the Spring of 2009. Nan Moore is in her 31st year as the Director of the LMHS Band but this REUNION is for EVERYONE who has been in Band. Night of Music & Magic (NOMAM) The Louisville Male High School Band Department will be hosting their 4th Annual Night of Music and Magic on Saturday March 07, 2009 (Time: TBA). Alumni Choir Forming to Aid Scholarship Fund There has been some interest in forming an Alumni Choir for Students who graduated between the years of 1986 and 2008. These are the years that Larry Pittman taught Chorus at Male. Since the death of Larry, there has been a Schorlarshp established as the Larry C. Pittman Scholarship Fund. All proceeds from the Alumni Choirs performance would go to the Scholarship Fund. LMHS Students Share Holidays Spirit with the Salvation Army The Louisville Male High School Band, Chorus and Orchestra will present their Hoiliday Program to the Students on Friday December 19, 2008 @ 8:30AM. The program will be in conjuction with the Salvation Army Canned Food Drive. The LMHS Student Body will present Canned Goods that have been collected during homeroom as well as a Check to the Salvation Army to help with the needy families and individuals in our community. You should be PROUD of the LMHS Students in the way they are giving back to the less fortunate in our community.
